Russian battlecruiser Pyotr VelikiyFrom Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia is the fourth Kirov-class battlecruiser of the Russian Navy. Initially named Yuri Andropov for Yuri Andropov, the former General Secretary of the Communist Party, the ship’s name was changed after the fall of the Soviet Union. The Russian designation for the type is “heavy missile cruiser”, but Western defense commentators re-invented the term “battlecruiser” to describe these; the largest surface combatant warships in the world . Pyotr Velikiy is the flagship of the Northern Fleet. Construction of the ship was heavily impacted by the economic problems before and after the fall of the Soviet Union and it was not commissioned until 1998, twelve years after work had started. By then it had been renamed Pyotr Velikiy, Russian for Pet er the Great. Pyotr Velikiy has been known to carry two pennant numbers during its service; “183” and currently “099”.After completing its acceptance trials in November 1996

The S37 Viggen Fighter from Sweden is designed to combat Russia in a war

Saab, which is best known in America for distinct automotive  design s, is also responsible for distinct aircraft design s. One of Saab’s most distinctive aircraft was the S37 Viggen – a jet whose name, “Viggen,” had two meanings. The first meaning of Viggen, is derived from “askvigg,” which can be translated roughly to “thunderbolt,” but traditionally meant “thunderstones.” Thunderstones – askvigg – is what the Vikings called the stone axes they excavated – they were prehistoric, from peoples who inhabited Scandinavia long before the Vikings. The Vikings developed a legend for the stone axes, believing that Thor, their thunder god, had delivered the axes in lightning strikes that occurred while he was stalking giants with Mjolnir, Thor’s war hammer. The Vikings believed that the thunderstones had magical characteristics, including protection from lightning. So, the first meaning of the name Viggen is pretty fantastic for a fighter jet. The second name, which refers to “v

The planet was ruined by these insane aircraft carriers.

1. Gerald R Ford Class, USA. The title of the world’s biggest aircraft carrier belongs to the US Navy’s Gerald R Ford Class battleships. The first carrier in this class, USS Gerald R. Ford, was commissioned in May 2017 and the four remaining announced vessels of this class are under construction. 2. Nimitz Class, USA. With a full load displacement of 97,000t, these 332.8m-long aircraft carriers have a 4.5-acre flight deck capable of carrying over 60 aircraft. These ships that can accommodate 3,000 to 3,200 ship’s company, 1,500 air wings, and 500 other crew are powered by two nuclear reactors and can reach a speed of over 30 kt. 3. Queen Elizabeth Class, UK. The largest aircraft carriers of the UK Royal Navy are the third-largest aircraft carriers in the world. The biggest warships ever built for British Navy, the Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carriers are also the second-largest non-US Navy warships after Japan’s Yamato-class battleships. 4. Martin Company’s engineer and test pilot William Kenneth Ebel, co-pilot Ed Fenimore and flight engineer Al Malewski made the first flight of the first B-26 Marauder, Army Air Corps serial number 40-1361. The B-26 was a twin-engine medium bomber designed with high speed as a primary objective. Production of the new airplane was considered so urgent that there were no prototypes. All aircraft were production models. The B-26 Marauder was 58 feet, 2.5 inches (17.742 meters) long with a wingspan of 65 feet, 0 inches (19.812

The NASA X-43 hypersonic aircraft travels at nearly Mach 10

Image
Much is made today about efforts to develop hypersonic weapons, and the worrisome fact that the United States is “lagging” behind the efforts of China and Russia. While it is true that there have been some setbacks, the truth remains that the United States has long been a leader in efforts to develop the fastest vehicles ever to fly. Meet NASA’s X-43, which was developed as part of the Hyper-X program in the late 1990s. As part of the “better, faster, cheaper” efforts developed by the space agency, Hyper-X utilized National Aerospace Plane technology and ways to quickly move it forward. The goal of the Hyper-X project was to flight validate key propulsion and related technologies for air-breathing hypersonic aircraft . The first two X-43 test vehicles were produced to fly at Mach 7, which was faster than any air-breathing aircraft had ever flown; while a third X-43 was even able to achieve a speed of nearly Mach 10, at Mach 9.6. To put that in perspective, the world’s fastest

The world was shocked by this American’s new super fighter jet.

This American’s New Super Fighter Jet Shocked The World. Developers strive to endow the already known mechanisms with some additional properties that expand the scope of their use. Progress promoted by Military engineers. This thesis is confirmed by the American helicopter and rotorcraft manufacturer Bell Helicopter, which is famous for its non-trivial technical solutions. So, welcome to the future. Recently Bell Helicopter presented three concepts of the high-speed airborne platform HSVTOL Related Posts Eurofighter Typhoon: The Best Non-Stealth Fighter Jet Today? RAH-66 Comanche – Stealth helicopter once abandoned until now makes the world amazing

Image
In 1991, Boeing–Sikorsky won a contract, and the rest is helicopter history. The U.S. has long led the world in stealth technologies, and for a time, it looked as though America’s love for all things low-observable would extend all the way into rotorcraft like the RAH-66 Comanche Helicopter.   Despite being only a decade away from ruin, the Soviet Union remained a palpable threat to the security and interests of the United States at the beginning of the 1980s. However, elements of America’s defense apparatus were beginning to look a bit long in the tooth after decades of posturing, deterrence, and the occasional proxy wᴀʀ. With the Soviet Union was believed to still be funneling a great deal of money into their own advanced military projects, the U.S. Army set to work on finding a viable replacement for their fleets of Vietnam-era light attack and reconnaissance helicopters in its forward-looking Light Helicopter Experimental (LHX) program.   The program’s intended aim

Which of America’s Strategic Stealth Bombers—the B-21 Raider or the B-2 Spirit—has the upper hand?

Image
The unveiling of the Northrop Grumman B-21 Raider intercontinental range strategic bomber on November 2 marks a milestone in the History of the U.S. Air Force, and for the strike capabilities of the NATO alliance as a whole, as the much anticipated aircraft is set to revolutionise American strike capabilities for both strategic and tactical missions across the world. B-2 Spirit (top) and B-21 Raider Bombers The aircraft’s unveiling has prompted widespread comparisons of its capabilities with existing bomber classes, including the American B-2, B-1B and B-52H and the Russian Tu-160 and Tu-95 which were all also designed for very long range nuclear strikes. Of all of them, however, the B-21 is most comparable in its design and capabilities to the B-2 Spirit which was also developed by Northrop Grumman and unveiled 34 years prior in 1988. The two aircraft are the only manned flying wing designs to have been publicly unveiled worldwide, and although they are restricted to s

The U.S. Navy Just Loaned NATO A Nimitz-Class Aircraft Carrier

The Nimitz-class nuclear-powered supercarrier and her strike group are now the “centerpiece” of the U.S. Sixth Fleet (SIXTHFLT) and Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO (STRIKFORNATO) Vigilance Activity Neptune Strike 2022.2 (NEST 22.2). NATO Gets an Aircraft Carrier For NEST 22.2, SIXTHFLT conducted a transfer of authority (TOA) of the GHWBCSG to STRIKFORNATO. While under STRIKFORNATO command and control, the carrier and her strike group along with other allied units served to support Allied Joint Forces Command (JFC) Naples and JFC Brunssum joint operating areas (JOAs), and demonstrated Alliance cohesion and the ability to simultaneously operate throughout European waters.
